Diving the Kumamoto Region

Southern Japan with Kyushu island and the Okinawa archipelago are the best diving places for underwater activities in the country.
Once certified, we can arrange week end dive trips for local divers, through a local dive operator. It will be our pleasure to guide you through the very good dive sites around Kumamoto.
The most famous place around for diving activities in the Amakusa National Park, which is not only a really great natural splendor with its islands connected by bridges, making the drive there really enjoyable. Amakusa is like a small "Keys" in Florida and numerous dive sites are available along the shore.
We will also have great diving and fun at different locations such as Ushibuka and Ashikita, where there are also numerous interesting dive spots. Most of these dive sites are reachable by shore and have an easy access from land. They are also within 6m to 14m depth (20 to 45 feet), making these dives easy and well within recreational dive limits for long and enjoyable dives.
The southern Japan coast line is mainly rocky with algaes and nutrient rich waters. Marine life varies from rock fishes to occasional pelagics, a lot of octopuses, which are amazing animals to look at in their natural environment. Octopuses are very intelligent and have a joyful habit of playing "hide and seek" once they are used to the presence of alien looking divers...We have seen in these waters some sea slugs and nudibranches very particular to this region in shape and color, and the encounter of the local "sea cow" (a huge sea slug feeding on algaes) will be remembered for a long time.
Our local partner in Kumamoto for all diving activities is Tsukada Diving Services a long established and known commercial and recreational diving services provider in the region.
