| The
National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI), has been created in
1960 in Houston, Texas, and is now headquartered in Tampa, Florida.
NAUI's mission as a non for profit association is to safely educate the
general public to underwater activities and develop and awareness and
protection of the underwater environment. As per its mottos "Dive Safety Through Education" and "Quality Difference", NAUI members are training fewer but better trained divers, with a system which has been adopted in the States by the NASA to train its astronauts for EVAs in the Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory in Houston, and various search and rescue teams. Many NAUI Instructors are scholars involved in diving clubs within universities, and numerous NAUI members have an extensive teaching and pedagogical background, giving the association its strong educational and quality training emphasis. |
